In a letter from the President of General Assembly to Permanent Mission, the President outlined the next steps in the process of UN reform and included a proposal for an informal thematic debate on development during the main part of the Sixty-first Session.

In a statement to the Second Committee, the G-77 and China outlined priorities related to the outcomes of all the major conferences and summits in the economic, social and related fields; sustainable development; the Bali Strategic Plan for Technology Support and Capacity Building; and the Development Follow-up Resolution (60/265).

EU Statement to the General Debate of the Second Committee

In their statement, the EU outlined views in relation to financing for development, aid effectiveness and debt relief, the Doha Development Agenda, International Migration and Development, LDCs, environment and sustainable, humanitarian assistance, and ICTs.

G-77 Adopts Ministerial Statement at 30th Annual Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77

Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the Group of 77 and China met in New York, at the United Nations Headquarters, on 22 September 2006 on the occasion of their 30th Annual Meeting.  The meeting concluded with the adoption of a Ministerial Statement outlining key issues and concerns for the 61st session of the General Assembly.
